My client is a well-established environmental consultancy who deliver high quality services to clients throughout the UK in the areas of Ecology, Landscape Architecture and Planning, Waste and Environmental Planning, Geotechnical and Contaminated Land and Flooding and Hydrological services. This business is based out of three strategically placed offices across the UK and work on a wide range of client projects throughout the country, in sectors including residential, commercial and leisure, education, transport and highways. Due to continued growth and project winning, my client is looking for a motivated and talented Ecologist to join the team based in their Bristol office.
Personal Requirements
Applying for this position, you will be expected to:
- Hold a degree in an environmental science or ecological discipline
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have experience producing Species Reports, Ecological Appraisals and Impact Assessments to a high standard
- Be commercially aware with a clear understanding of the planning application process
- Have experience of leading a team and managing a wide range of ecological projects
- Hold at least one protected species licence, e.g. bat, GCN, dormouse (desirable, not essential)
- Be a full member of a relevant professional body, such as the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
- Have experience carrying out a range of ecological surveying, such as Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and Protected Species Surveys
About the position
Working as a Consultant Ecologist, your duties will include, but will not be restricted to:
- Implementing and overseeing ecological surveys, consultation, assessment and mitigation work
- Liaising with sub-consultants and clients, playing a role in acquiring new business
- Maintaining excellent relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities for follow-up business
- Working with, and providing support to, more junior members of the ecology team
- Applying for protected species licences for your area of expertise
- Involvement with the preparation of fee proposals
