We are looking for a numerate and enthusiastic problem solver who wants to apply and develop their software development skills to solve tough challenges that have a positive impact on the world. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of developing numerical or analytical code. You will be part of a dynamic team that is working on our Flood Modeller software , one of the world's leading flood risk analysis software packages. Working with experts from a range of backgrounds will provide you with the opportunity to learn quickly, input new ideas and bring your own expertise to the team. Our current core technologies include Fortran, C++, C#, Python, and Microsoft Visual Studio's IDE and .NET development environments. We'll invest heavily in your career development as you develop and apply your coding and problem solving skills to the full software development life cycle. Your role The primary role will be development of the Flood Modeller numerical solvers. You will be working on both existing and new code design to help our clients improve their understanding of the impacts of flooding today and with climate change. The role will also include other software development, R&D and consultancy work with regional and national government agencies, including the Environment Agency, and insurance companies. The minimum qualifications for this position are: ?? Numerate background - a degree in a maths, science, computing, engineering or similar ?? Experience of coding in Fortran and exposure to coding in some of our other core technologies ?? An interest in coding in all of our current core technologies ?? Good written and oral communication skills A candidate with the following qualifications and skills would have an advantage: ?? MSc or PhD involving numerical solutions to physical problems (e.g. computational hydraulics or computational fluid dynamics - CFD) ?? Experience of Microsoft Visual Studio's IDE and .NET languages ?? Parallel programming including GPU As part of the application you may be required to submit a small test program developed to our specification and be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm for solving engineering problems using a scientific approach. Location: The job will be based in Swindon (UK) at our Burderop Park office. It is a scenic rural location adjacent to the Burderop Park Grade II listed country manor house and Burderop Wood.
