Job Description:

CH2M are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our established and dynamic River Engineering practice, working on a range of projects that make a difference to local communities and the environment. The successful candidate will join an established and dynamic river engineering practice and would be working on a range of projects that make a difference to local communities and the environment. You will operate in a thriving Water and Environmental Management team which undertakes a wide variety of flood risk management commissions involving river engineering, drainage, hydrology, hydraulic modelling. The projects we deliver begin with flood management appraisal extending through to detailed design. Recent projects, the type of which the successful candidate would be expected to contribute to in a technical capacity, have included fluival flood risk management schemes involving large storage areas, control structures, flood walls and channel restoration. You will be based in Birmingham and have the chance to assist in the delivery of our portfolio of projects working as part of an integrated and forward thinking team with the opportunity to learn from and assist key specialists. You will be required toassist in the delivery of water engineering appraisal and design commissionsand continue to develop their own engineering knowledge by providing technicaland project management support. We are looking for someonewith good hydraulic and engineering ability, a knowledge of CDM and anappreciation of sustainability and environmentally sound solutions. Experience in options appraisal and designwith a knowledge of Eurocodes is desirable. We would expect thesuccessful candidate to lead the investigation of engineering problems toidentify and develop outline solutions by contributing your own knowledge andmanaging a small team of colleagues through a package of work. This will include preparing specifications forelements of the work to be carried out by other disciplines within the companyor from other suppliers. An appreciation ofcommercial and contractual aspects of project delivery would be beneficial andopen up opportunities in bid preparation and project management. The minimum qualifications for this position are: - Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline (Civil Engineer / Water Engineering and Management or equivalent). - Experience with scheduling (i.e. Primavera, MS project etc.) and program control systems. - Experience in options appraisal and designwith a knowledge of Eurocodes is desirable. - Ability to visualise solutions to ensure that holistically complete solutions are developed, taking into full account health, safety and environment in all project phases. - Participation in projects funded by the UK Environment Agency. - Proven experience of producing accurate technical outputs. - Working towards Chartered status (with the ICE or CIWEM). - Familiar with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget and other specified requirements stated in the contract.
