Description

Reporting to the Group Reporting Manager, the main purpose of this role is to deliver accurate, timely and insightful group results and to deliver the statutory reporting requirements for the group. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to stretch their already strong technical knowledge as well as be at the forefront of reporting on and responding to Group results.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Deliver Group Annual Report & Accounts and Half-Yearly Financial Statements, as well as Financial statements for certain legal entities within the group
  • Deliver group consolidated IFRS balance sheets, and other input as requested, for the group's quarterly Solvency II returns, and maintain effective standards and controls to ensure deliverables are accurate and on time
  • Contribute to the delivery of monthly group results to Group Management Board and EIO plc Board within agreed timescales
  • Deliver and maintain effective standards and controls so that group exposure to financial risk and the risk of error in reported results (internally and externally) is managed effectively
  • Develop and maintain effective and efficient processes, automated where possible, to capture group results from all specified business units
  • Demonstrate technical accounting expertise, and communicate and advise on approach to any changes in accounting standards as requested
  • Ensure that all external reporting meets group accounting policies and standards
  • Communicate effectively with Group Management Board, Group Audit Committee and EIO plc Board on specific topics as requested
  • Play a key role in the delivery of an effective and efficient external audit of the group

Profile

Knowledge, skills and experience:

You will have excellent knowledge of accounting standards and a passion for the technical side of accounting and applying new or more judgemental aspects of those standards. Experience within the financial services industry would be an advantage but, whatever industry you have worked in, you will have demonstrated wider commercial thinking and an ability to articulate your conclusions and recommendations clearly, both verbally and in writing. You will have contributed to the development of financial reporting processes, proactively building new and productive relationships, in pursuit of the best outcome for the business. You will be used to delivering with accuracy against non-negotiable deadlines, and enjoy working as part of a committed team, willing to support others at busy times.

  • Qualified Accountant or equivalent
  • Excellent understanding of International Reporting Financial Standards and good understanding of UKGAAP
  • Experience of producing statutory accounts and regulatory returns
  • Experience in producing consolidated financial results
  • Knowledge of Financial Services industry in desirable but not essential
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Experience of and aptitude for interpreting and applying accounting and regulatory guidance
  • Experience of operating on an international and cross-border basis
  • Strong track record in improving financial reporting processes, including effective use of technology
