We are currently looking for a Chief Mechanical Engineer - Hybrid Electronics Systems to work for a major automotive organisation based in Warwickshire

Job Title: Chief Mechanical Engineer - Hybrid Electronics Systems

Location: Warwickshire

Salary: Up to GBP60,000 + Healthcare and Pension

Hours: 40 Hours per week

The Role:

*An opportunity exists within the Hybrid and Electronic System Team for a Chief Mechanical Engineer - Hybrid Electronics Systems to deliver on-going client technology projects.

To deliver technical content of client projects:

*Lead both mechanical and thermal system design for HV Batteries activities across multi vehicle platforms.

*Managing and working with the customer to provide project plans and RFQ's.

*On site customer support of senior review meetings to conduct design reviews (including resolution tracker), project status, battery technical developments and vehicle interface requirements

*Work within client quality procedures and validation processes

*Managing and coordinating the activities of CAD / CAE / CFD resources located across multiple sites.

*To support lead engineers in the development of mechanical systems and components particularly relating to electronics and hybrid vehicle battery systems.

*Responsible for all mechanical design aspects relating to cost, mass, BOM, material and surface finish selection

*Liaise and manage suppliers/subcontractors to agree the specification of purchased components and delivery requirements for the project.

*To manage the initial build of prototypes and products when required.

*Support the development of future products and services

Required Qualifications and Experience:

*The successful applicant will ideally be a degree qualified Mechanical Designer with demonstrable experience and a proven track record of developing HV Batteries ideally in the within the Automotive or similar industries.

*In order to be successful, you will need to seek innovative solutions while working within tight timescales, be able to work well within multi-disciplinary project teams, and be a self-starter with the determination to deliver to clear objectives.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

*Degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering/physics/aero engineering)

*Experience in the preparation of design concepts and inputs to proposals and presentation to customers.

*A familiarity of vehicle structures, vehicle safety and crash structures including integration with BIW and Chassis. Knowledge of vehicle build and service procedures

*Knowledge of battery architectures and cell chemistries used in hybrid & electric vehicles

*Managing engineering release and change control procedures within a large automotive system

*Knowledge and experience of thermal management systems and structural design considerations for electromechanical assemblies.

*Component manufacturing design experience using high volume manufacturing methods, such as sheet metal pressing, sand and die casting, plastic injection moulding

*Experience in DFMEA writing and assessment

*Good interpersonal and customer facing skills

*Be proactive, self-motivated, and demonstrate an attention to detail

*Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication and written communication skills

*Knowledge of designing for high current and high voltage (12 to 1200Vdc) power systems, (connectors, bus bars, cables, contactors & fusing), electronic PCB outline and packaging, wiring harness routing.

*Experience of electrical component integration (up to 600V), design & development on low volume or high-volume products, particularly HV battery systems and sub systems in a tier 1 or OEM environment

*Design rules for electrical safety

*Knowledge or experience of Teamcenter
