Debt Recovery officer needed to work within a Housing Association for a temporary to permanent contract

Your new company

You will be joining a forward thinking, dynamic, commercial focussed housing association. Your new role

As a debt recovery officer you will be working on a full time, 37.5 hour temporary contract with the possibility to go permanent within a couple of months. As a debt recovery officer you will provide customers with debt advice and arrange payment plans to ensure arrears are at a minimum. As a debt recovery officer you will help vulnerable service users who are at risk of debt with financial advise, signposting to relevant agencies when necessary. You will arrange payments for customers who are in arrears and set up direct debit payments, accept card payments over the phone, and generally assist residents with rent and service charge enquiries. Additional duties will involve ensuring suppliers are in receipt of payment and ensuring invoices and coded correctly. As well as this you will be producing monthly arrears reports so you will need to be knowledgeable and confident using Microsoft Excel.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful, it is likely you will be educated to GSCE standard or above as well as having experience of working in a similar role. You should have some knowledge of housing law in relation to arrears management and experience working with challenging or vulnerable customers. Excellent communication skills, confidence, and the ability to meet tight deadlines whilst working under pressure are all essential, as is a strong understanding and execution of customer service.
