The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children's rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it's girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children's rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for - and respond to - crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 75 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that Plan International has a common understanding of civil society strengthening and the related themes of partnership building globally, applying consistently good practices for both areas and measuring the results of partnership and civil society strengthening efforts at all levels.

You will develop global guidance and tools and identify, develop and promote good practices for Civil Society Strengthening, facilitating a community of practice on Civil Society Strengthening and partnership building and ensuring continuous learning and improvement within the organisation.

The role will also involve a high level of external representation and networking externally with relevant organisations and civil society networks on the issue of partnership building and civil society strengthening.

The Individual

With in-depth knowledge in the fields of civil society strengthening and effective partnership building in the development and humanitarian context you will have a strong understanding of gender equality and inclusion and working with a rights based perspective.

Exceptional interpersonal skills will be essential as you engage and influence effectively throughout the organisation, inspiring others and bringing them together around a common agenda. Excellent conceptual, analytical and strategic thinking skills combined with advanced facilitation and consultation skills will be imperative.
