Technical Support Engineer (2nd Line) - Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Our highly successful client based in Wilmslow is currently looking for a Technical Support Engineer. The company encourages independent thinking from their employees as well as embracing innovation and creativity. As their success continues to grow, so does their need for talented individuals.

We are currently looking for a Technical Support Engineer (2nd Line) to be based in their Wilmslow office. You will be the sole member of second line technical support staff, leading the day to day operation of the helpdesk. You will be supported in this by three members of 1st line helpdesk staff, and three 3rd line specialists.
This role offers the successful candidate the possibility for a lot of autonomy, with the ability to shape the position themselves and contribute to 3rd line projects. As the person in charge of task allocation and escalation, this is a critical and responsible position. We are looking for someone who is keen to demonstrate their ability to organise and improve the service to our client's end users.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Be the primary source of second line technical support to staff across all company sites, assisting them with hardware and software problems via phone, email and in person.
* Oversee the day to day helpdesk operations.
* Maintain a high degree of customer service and professionalism for all support queries, both your own and maintaining standards across the helpdesk.
* Adhere to and improve all service management principles.
* Develop processes and standards for user support.
* Take ownership and be pro-active when dealing with support requests.
* Log all support requests on the internal ticketing system, and monitor all tickets currently with the team.

Skills / Attributes Required
* Minimum 1 years helpdesk experience, most recently in a similar role. (Essential)
* Strong organisational and mentoring skills to run the helpdesk day to day
* Excellent written and oral communication skills with a professional telephone manner.
* Excellent Microsoft systems knowledge (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Office 2010/2013, Office 365, etc).
* Excellent understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration.
* Good overall infrastructure knowledge
* 'Hands on' approach and a willingness to learn.
* Flexible, pro-active attitude.
* Demonstrable ability to identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and procedures.
