Service Technician - Mechanical Engineering

This is an interesting, varied and highly rewarding position involving the setting and testing of capital equipment prior to despatch, commissioning in the customers overseas factories and the training of operators and maintenance personnel in the use of the equipment on site.

This exciting new role based in Gloucestershire is a direct result of the growth of the in our client's company. They are a solid, profitable, established business and at the leading edge of their field.

This position would be suitable for someone who is multi skilled in mechanical machinery build and who is prepared to travel & work overseas.

The Job

• Setting and testing of the full range of assembly equipment in a mechanical engineering business on site in Gloucester

• Final testing, assembly and inspection prior to dispatch

• Installation and commissioning on site at the clients premises in Europe and world wide

• Training of client's staff oversees

• Report writing and recommendations

• Liaison with clients and all internal departments

Skills and Experience

• Mechanically based skill set with a proven track record or mechanical assembly and fault diagnosis

• Applicants must be able to work from mechanical engineering drawings and be able to use tools such as micrometers and verniers

• Able to read and interpret pneumatic drawings and circuits

• Basic understanding of electrical control circuits and PLC machine controls

• Able to write reports and be an excellent communicator

The Person

The ideal candidate will be multi skilled, hands on and have a technical mechanical background. They will also have strong attention to detail and solid problem solving skills.

• Qualified to HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or time served

• Solid, relevant, hands on practical working experience with a strong mechanical bias

• Some knowledge of pneumatics & electrical control systems would be advantageous

• Machine testing & commissioning experience would be ideal

• Pro - active and self - motivated with wide ranging problem solving experience

• Positive attitude with ability to work within culturally diverse environments

• Helpful and assistive approach to resolution of technical challenges and supportive of change

• All applicants must have a passport and be free to travel abroad as part of the job

Remuneration

This position is offered as a full time permanent role

Salary: c25,000 - GBP33,000 per annum

Profit Related Pay after probationary period, typically 5% per annum

Free parking and travel allowances etc
