Event Operations Manager

Are you an experienced technical event manager looking for a part-time role? At Pukka our talented events team create amazing experiences at festivals, trade shows, education events and internal company events and across the UK. We are looking for an Event Operations Manager to join our team at Pukka to play a key role in our events team.

This role is based in Bristol with regular travel in the UK and occasionally internationally (Germany). On average this position will be required 1.5 days per week (approx. 78 days per year). We are flexible about the contract being employed or self-employed depending on your circumstances.

About the role

In this hands-on role you'll be the technical support and runner in the Events team. You'll manage all pre-event logistics including creating loading lists for each event, booking power, water, recycling and waste collection. Responsible for event inventory and storage management, you'll manage stock movement from the Pukka Warehouse to each event and maintain our Pukka Airstream and Land Rover and ensure all MOTs, servicing, insurance and conditions reports are up to date. You'll be managing our storage facility ensuring that everything is well organised, maintained, stored safely and accessible.

For some of our events throughout the year you'll drive our Land Rover/van and tow our Airstream trailer and set up the technical aspects of an event, ensuring H&S compliance and problem solve any immediate on-site technical issues. You'll be there on site at each event and coordinate with event locations to ensure access, parking and safe storage of the Land Rover and the Pukka Airstream, and manage the build and de-rig process. You'll support the team as a runner and deal with any situations as they arise to ensure the event runs smoothly.

About You

You'll have significant experience and ability gained in technical and practical roles working at live events and a real passion for Pukka Herbs. Experience of driving a 2.5 tonne van with a trailer is essential and you'll hold a BE driving licence. You'll be looking to work part time (on average 1.5 days per week) and have a flexible approach. You'll have a Managing Safely/IOSH qualification, be comfortable with basic maintenance of vehicles, and have experience of carrying out risk assessments and method statements. Ideally you'll be a qualified first aider and have experience as a Fire Marshall, however this can be trained.

You'll have brilliant communication skills, an open and honest approach and a positive outlook. Good team leadership skills and confident communication skills are needed to deliver staff briefings at live events. You'll have a resourceful mindset with lots of initiative. Experience of solving challenges before, during and after a live event, is needed as well as having a useful support network and ability to source equipment and materials at short notice. You'll always be looking for ways of improving the way we do things and be a custodian for our sustainable principles. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills are needed along with and the resilience to deal with challenges and pressure. You'll have good computer skills and experience of using Word and Excel to an intermediate level.
