Pertemps Technical is working in partnership with an innovative and customer focused global manufacturing company, specialising in gas abatement solutions for the semiconductor industry.

Following a restructure of the Manufacturing Engineering department, a vacancy has become available for a Manufacturing Systems Manager.

- GBP52,000 - GBP62,000 per annum
- Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- 25 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays

The purpose of this role is to lead and manage a team of 6 engineers, in the creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the production system.

About the role

- Overall management of planning, resources, cost and manufacturing deliverables for NPI, ETO and CIP projects and reporting to management
- Leading by inspiring and motivating people to follow the shared vision
- Balance between long term manufacturing strategy and goals with short term priorities.
- Optimizing manufacturing systems and processes for existing and new or modified products
- Products and project delivered on time to standard and within budget
- Coordination within manufacturing and other departments to drive continuous improvement
- Represent the manufacturing engineering department within management governance reviews (PCM, SQR)
- Support internal and external quality management and EHS audits
- Lead and manage change process to achieve full manufacturing process and project ownership in coordination with stakeholders
- Assure compliance of the production processes to current regulations in terms of Health, Safety and Environment
- Develops, implements and continuously improves policies, standards and procedures
- Coordination and integration of PDM functions within manufacturing engineering
- Implement and maintain suitable metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Manufacturing System, project and manufacturing engineering team
- Manages recruitment, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities reach the business goals and expectations
- Mentors and oversees technical and professional development of the Manufacturing engineering team members
- Value stream mapping and specification and implementation of all processes impacting the manufacturing system
- Coordinate and support make or buy investigations and outsourcing projects
- Assure legal and certification compliance of manufacturing systems and processes
- Support the analysis of root cause for safety incidents and process non conformities
- Encourage innovation to reduce costs and workflows and guarantees the feasibility and reproducibility of the overall manufacturing process
- Review of budgets and follow up of cost centres
- Realisation, review and presentation of manufacturing investment proposals with business case

The right candidate will have

- Good Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications
- Experience of working within an assembly environment - electrically or mechanically biased
- Demonstrable project management experience
- Previous experience in key manufacturing principles such as TPM, 8D, 6S problem solving, product responsibility, continuous improvement process as well as new product introduction.
- Excellent IT literacy, being a competent user of MS office
