Exciting opportunity for a Design Technician to join a prestigious well established company based in Highbridge.
Overall:
Reporting to the CAD department manager, responsibilities are for producing design concept drawings for sales designers and working drawings for customer approval and manufacture.
Responsibilities:
Using AutoCAD software, produce working drawings of Bespoke Timber Conservatories and Orangery's for Trade Customers, Retail Supply and Fit, and Supply only Customers. Also processing Window and Door only contracts using Window builder software.
Paying particular attention to detail, present fully dimensioned and accurate Base, Frame and Roof Plans, Elevations and Section drawings, including any additional details required. Taking information from Sales drawings and Purchase Orders, considering any aesthetic features and structural requirements, including materials, loadings and any interaction with existing buildings. Follow thorough checking procedures before passing on finalised drawings to the relevant parties for approval, prior to manufacture.
Working closely with in-house surveyors and the trade team, answering queries from site workers/ fitters and project managers during the construction phase. To be able to understand and relay processing details within a finished drawing and have up to date knowledge of fixtures and fittings used by the company.
Ensuring that individual or unusual site requirements are factored into the initial design and comply with building regulations, planning restrictions and structural engineering requirements. Any additional costs or allowances for structural or special elements must be highlighted and relayed to the designer with the finished drawings.
Continuity between the design accepted by the customer and the working drawings must be maximised by spotting potential complications at the drawing request stage. Keeping a thorough record of correspondence between CAD and the designer to prevent issues with pricing or building responsibilities.
Use of company Database to log contract progress, noting any information to be available across the board.
Recording proven designs drawings and specification into the technical library, making updates when required.
