Primarily, the role holder will be responsible for providing insightful analysis in order to support in-depth understanding of the profile, trends and issues within the mortgage and consumer finance portfolios. There will also be responsibilities for making recommendations for change to lending policy, processes or models as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake analysis of the consumer / mortgage lending portfolios in order to provide insight and understanding of the key drivers of credit risk in relation to commercial drivers, trends over time and to identify anomalies / areas for investigation.
  • Devising, developing and deploying acquisition credit risk strategies to optimise risk adjusted return.
  • Undertake the development and production of and associated commentary and insight on the reporting of credit risk appetite, portfolio performance and key governance material.
  • Use analysis and reporting in order to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency / outcome of automated and manual decisions, to identify opportunities to improve business processes / operational efficiency in credit origination.
  • Ensure that appropriate tracking is in place for all test & learn activity or other similar testing activity in order to monitor results and to enable the recommendation of subsequent changes to policies and / or processes.

Essential Qualifications: GCSE or Education level equivalent at grade C or above for Mathematics and English

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven Credit Risk Analytical experience in developing acquisition credit strategies, including the development and production of credit risk MI.
  • Good understanding of more sophisticated credit risk techniques and able to apply these independently.
  • Experience of working on consumer finance portfolios.
  • Strong SAS skills - with the ability to manipulate large data sets from multiple sources and to develop SAS code with minimal steer.
