Capita Further and Higher Education is a leading provider of Student Record Systems to the further and higher education sector in the UK. Due to continued business growth, we are looking to expand the consultancy team and are seeking an individual who is customer focussed, understands the education sector and has strong analytical, technical and communication skills.

About the role

Working as part of the implementation team, the post-holder will primarily be responsible for the delivery of high quality bespoke application and web development, and reporting in the Further and Higher Education (FHE) UNIT-e Student Records and Tracking solution and associated products.

What you will do:

  • Participate in the planning, configuration, testing, documentation, training and support of web and application developments based on the UNIT-e product.

  • Perform customisation analysis and develop recommendations with estimates of cost to meet client needs

  • Effectively manage customer expectations proactively communicating issues/concerns to Project Manager/Consultancy Manager

  • Analyse customer requirements and produce high quality and cost efficient report writing services to customers as and where required

  • Configure client systems in alignment with client needs and provide training in the use and upkeep of applications and technologies.

  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of products and services related to the consultancy undertaken.

  • Liaise with the Product and Support desk within FHE as required.

  • The consultant will be required to work in accordance with the Capita FHE standards, procedures and guidelines

  • To identify opportunities for potential sale of FHE services and products and notify Product/Project/Client/Regional Manager as appropriate

Your experience will include:

ESSENTIAL

  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills

  • Development experience in ASP.NET, C#, HTML5, Bootstrap, JavaScript, use of Visual Studio

  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services

  • SQL experience including working with SQL or Oracle databases

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of Further and/or Higher Education student and staff data administration processes

  • Knowledge of Further and/or Higher Education statutory returns

  • Experience in using and deploying UNIT-e software

PEOPLE SKILLS

  • Excellent skills in interpreting and presenting technical concepts to non-technical and technical people

  • A disciplined self-starter as well as team player

  • Work under own initiative

  • Flexible attitude

  • Customer focussed

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills with credibility to influence senior client stakeholders at client site
