Microscopy Analyst

Our client is a leading research organisation offering a range of analytical services to the food sector.

They are looking for a Microscopist to work on customer contract services dealing mainly with the identification of foreign bodies reported from food, but with some work in the other areas in which the Microscopy Section is involved. The post will involve the use of a wide range of microscope and micro-analytical techniques including light microscopy, SEM scanning electron microscopy, X-ray microanalysis and FT-IR spectroscopy.

You will be expected to work both on your own and as part of a team, taking responsibility for the identification of individual foreign body samples and preparing a report on each sample. Other duties may include booking-in of samples, sending off reports and preparation of invoices.

The post would suit a recent graduate with an investigative frame of mind and an interest in the imaginative application of analytical techniques. Experience of microscopy techniques and a basic understanding of quality control procedures would be useful.

Candidate

Relevant Science Degree preferred such as Life Sciences or Forensic Science.

Experience using a range of microscopes would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Excellent written English.

Driving licence and own vehicle required due to location.

Candidates should already live locally.
