Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) is looking to expand its Environmental Governance Programme and is currently seeking candidates to fulfill multiple roles within its Mapping and Monitoring Team. Successful applicants will develop FPPs mapping and information management strategies with both our technical partners with whom we are developing bespoke software and community organisations. Specifically, we are looking for candidates to help implement and further develop mapping and documentation initiatives supporting forest communities particularly in West and Central Africa to gather, manage and publish data where appropriate on their forests and customary lands.

The successful applicants will build upon existing FPP projects, databases and new bespoke software, to support multiple projects across the FPP field programmes primarily in Africa aimed at empowering communities to track, document and communicate what is happening in their forests to support their efforts to secure justice and protect their lands, as well as to enable, monitor and enforce the application of human rights safeguards on the ground.

The successful candidates will support FPP's multidisciplinary team and partners to develop a toolkit for communities. This will be based on the mapping and documentation work we are already undertaking with forest communities, the existence of new technologies and software for collecting, managing and disseminating data, the development of new tools and software where necessary and the efforts of other initiatives attempting to meet similar objectives. Fluency in written and spoken French and English are an essential requirement.
