A HR Manager opportunity with a leading family support charity.

Family Lives is a leading national family support charity. We provide 24 hour support, seven days a week through a range of innovative and integrated services, engaging with over 2.5 million families and young people through our digital communications, helpline and face to face support.

Position: HR Manager
Location: Hatfield, Hertfordshire / homebased
Contract type: Fixed term 6 month maternity cover with possibility of extension
Hours: 17.5 hours per week
Salary: GBP34,750 per annum, pro-rata

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead the HR function, reporting directly to the Chief Executive. You will line manage the small HR team and oversee all HR functions. The successful individual will be responsible for ensuring a full recruitment process is carried out for all roles and for providing accurate advice and guidance on a range of HR issues to managers, Directors and the Chief Executive. The role will lead on redundancies, TUPE transfers, disciplinaries and grievances. You will also oversee health and safety.

The role will need to be worked over 3 days and be based at our office in Hatfield for 1-2 days a week and the 3rd day may be worked from home or the office. Preferred working days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, to ensure that the team are supported, though there may be some flexibility to work a slightly different pattern.

About You:

We are looking for someone who has extensive HR experience, including recruitment, redundancies, managing performance and sickness issues and advising staff, managers and senior managers on a range of HR issues. TUPE experience is desirable but not essential.

You must be fully CIPD qualified and have excellent knowledge of employment law and HR best practice. The successful individual is also required to have experience of managing or supervising staff and/or volunteers. You must also have good negotiation skills, a positive, can do approach and be excellent at managing difficult situations.
