I am currently recruiting for a fast passed FMCG company based in the Frome area and manufactures sweet pastry products for the retail food service sectors. This site is currently undergoing some alternations and investment and it is an exciting time to join a small, motivated engineering team.
The company is part of a nationwide household brand with numerous sites within the UK.
Bakery Engineer
To manage all aspects of work within your prescribed area of control in line with department systems of management whilst maintaining a constant focus on health and safety, plant reliability & employee welfare to promote the company's open democratic culture, effectively meet the demands of the customer through focusing on quality and service delivery and efficiently maintain the process and associated daily costs.
This role is on the Pitman shift pattern - 2-2/3-3/2-3 with a two week rotation working 12 hour shifts.
Detailed job description:
- ??To focus on all site continuous improvement projects with in the Area of Responsibility frame work.
- To support projects relating to process improvements, waste & material variance reduction, labour efficiencies and productivity increases.
- To use the correct spare parts & stores systems to track spend per asset generating inputs to a site/budget report.
- To support reductions in down time and response time through the engineering management and report system.
- Identify route cause(s) of manufacturing waste and introduce effective measures to eliminate/reduce within the Area of Responsibility frame work.
- To promote quality and best practises with-in the department and the site quality standards are at best maintained and improved where scope exists.
- To consistently challenge existing practices and behaviours where these deviate from the organisations desired culture.
- To maintain the Engineering Maintenance & Report system in accordance with the laid down procedures.
- To promote safe working practices and take the appropriate prompt action relating to accidents and near miss incidents.
- To identify opportunities for improvement/innovation and to develop and implement action plans in conjunction with the Production Managers/Hygiene Manager & Engineering Manager to maximise potential benefits of such opportunities for the business.
- To ensure that all Company policies, procedures and systems are consistently adhered to at all times.
- To support the timed close out of Good Manufacturing Practices, Glass & Plastic and External Audit responses.
- Daily review of Engineering Work Request's updating responses in a timely fashion and communicate to originators.??
- To continually review processes and line layouts to ensure that these support present business needs & maximise efficient throughput maintaining world class standards at finished product point.
- To continually review contractor support services requirements and discuss with the Engineering Manager.
- To carry out the scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule in a timely manner.
