The Canute Group are looking to recruit for a HGV / LGV Trainee Workshop Stores Assistant to work within our busy store department based at our Head office Purfleet Depot.

As a Trainee Workshop Stores Assistant, your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • To receive in all goods delivered to the company
  • Carry out inspection of goods received - checking for damage, quantity of and quality of items received.
  • Entering of all goods received on to the computer system and correlating the items
  • received to the purchase order to ensure our order requirements are fulfilled.
  • To book on to the system all items received from customers for repair.
  • To use the company computer system to maintain accurate records, carry out stock
  • transfers etc.
  • To keep the working area / stores free of hazards as per the company’s health and safety
  • policy (as per the handbook and policy statement), reporting any potential dangers to the
  • Operations Manager as soon as they arise.
  • Be prepared to undertake any internal / external training as required.
  • To be flexible as possible with working hours at times of heavy workload.
  • To deal with dispatches by post and with letter mail.

General Data Entry

  • To undertake any other duties, from time to time
  • Provide Holiday cover where applicable.

Stock Control

  • To keep control of all stock parts
  • To be responsible for the goods in / out / stores areas to comply with Health and Safety,
  • Insurance requirements, and to generally to maintain it in a tidy and orderly way.
  • To maintain quality, batch control and traceability of all parts and to ensure the
  • department operates to the quality manual
  • To issue stock parts to the workshop as required and to update the system accordingly
  • To order parts for the workshop
  • To assist with regular stock checks when required
  • To assist with stock maintenance, management and depreciation
  • Goods out
  • To accurately pick stock items in accordance with the outgoing paperwork ensuring
  • conformance to the customer’s requirements.
  • To adequately package all orders for safe delivery to the customer.
  • To liaise with the various carriers used for delivery to customers.

An ideal Trainee Workshop Stores Assistant will be willing to work as part of a team and on their own initiative. Experience would be preferred / full training will be provided.

The role will require a flexible working approach which reflects the needs of the business and the daily working hours will be either 09:00HRS until 18:00HRS or 08:30HRS until 17:30HRS, Monday to Friday, which includes an unpaid meal break.
