Role: Materials Buyer
Salary: GBP26,000 - GBP32,000 per annum
Type: Permanent
Location: Near Bath
My client is a world leading manufacturing company. They are seeking a Materials Buyer to join their dynamic team based near Bath as they continue to lead innovation within their industry.
The Materials Buyer will ideally have the following attributes:
- At least 3 years' experience in a Purchasing or Production Planning within a manufacturing facility
- MCIPS or CIPS Qualification
- Good understanding of best practice purchasing and planning systems and processes
- Knowledge of Over Seas Purchasing
- Knowledge of Import Handling
- Good Levels of Forecasting
- Previous experience in Scheduling Suppliers
- Good communications skills / able to facilitate across site and national boundaries and make things happen. Comfortable in a matrix structure environment
- Analytical approach and medium-term perspective
The Materials Buyer role will involve:
- Processing MRP reports by placing Purchase orders on designated suppliers
- Expedite material from suppliers to support the production plan
- Assist the team with feedback on material availability
- Ensure that material from suppliers overseas is correctly tracked for on-time delivery
- Adjust stock holding parameters in line with guidelines from team leaders
- Assist in the introduction of new parts through Engineering Change
- Liaise with Quality and Engineering Departments regarding non-conforming material and engineering issues raised by suppliers
