In the role of Utilities Engineer you will be reporting to the Process, Plant & Utilities Engineering Manager, to have overall responsibility for maintaining efficient operation of the Utilities & effluent equipment. In return for your hard work you will receive a competitive salary.

Job purpose;

To have overall responsibility for maintaining efficient operation of the site Utility Equipment and Effluent Plant. To ensure that there is an uninterrupted supply (unless planned) of steam, air, water and electricity to the site and that they are used efficiently. To effectively run the Effluent Plant and Site Water Systems within site and external bodies requirements. To be proactive in ensuring the site meets it's targets for KPI's including energy usage and emissions control. The focus and time of the role will be split 40% Services, 40% Effluent and 20% Process.

Due to the escalating energy and utilities costs, the role of Utilities Engineer maintains the site utilities services to proactively drive improvement and cost savings whilst maintaining the ability to meet varying and increasing demands from production.

Your duties as Utilities Engineer will include;

- To ensure compliance with Environmental Agency Consent Limits and Retained Consultant Requests whilst running the site Effluent Plant in the most efficient way possible
- To support site engineering teams in monitoring Utility utilisation so as to identify potential savings and advise on the efficient use of utilities and effluent
- To ensure that the site utilities services comply with legislative and Company ethical standards in terms of safety, food hygiene and staff management

Further duties include;

- Attend machine breakdowns efficiently and provide effective measures to ensure issues are resolved
- Use continuous improvement techniques and best practice to improve machine efficiencies.
- Deliver and develop effective re-active maintenance, repairs & improvements
- Use of and feedback on, appropriate spares required
- Generate and complete work orders on the Infor system.
- Help develop and implement effective PM schedules
- Undertake maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all relevant work records are completed
- Work with departmental leaders and others to ensure breakdown and repair work is completed in a manner that minimises downtime and does not compromise product quality or safety
- Work with departmental leaders and other staff to improve the reliability and effectiveness of the factory machinery.
- Ensure effective handover of work and communications between shifts.
- Take a lead role in emergency situation.
- Take a pride in working areas keep clean and tidy
- Use continuous improvement techniques and best practice to improve machine efficiencies.

- Participate in shift hand-overs and production meetings
- Help develop and implement effective PM schedules
- Support and achieve the engineering KPI's

The role of Utilities Engineer will involve some decision making duties, including the following;

- Problem solving ie deciding the best solution for engineering problems with the resources available.
- Decide what additional work and spares may be required.
- Methods of improving operations
- You will be required to advise managers on actions to be taken to resolve unusual situations ie flooding fire alarms breakdowns etc.

Skills required for this role;

- Multi-skilled engineer, fully qualified Engineer to minimum of city and guilds level ideally HNC or equivalent.
- Excellent understanding of Utilities Systems and Effluent Systems
- Excellent fault finding and route cause analysis skills
- Experience of working in a FMCG environment
- Some supervisory experience would be beneficial
- Comfortable in autonomous decision making and team working.
