Job Description
Due to current changes within our finance team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Corporate Accountant to join us in our Business Support Centre, Peterborough, on a full-time (37.5 hours), permanent contract. The Corporate Accountant`s primary role is to provide accurate and timely management information, support and guidance to Mencap`s, Executive team, Senior Management, Boards and Business Units.
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate well at all levels with internal and external stakeholders, motivate both peers and those at a more senior level within Mencap. You will have a proactive approach to continuous improvement and the ability to challenge processes where they can see improvements/changes need to be made.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and issue monthly financial and non-financial management accounting reports
- Lead on the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Provide high quality analysis and interpretation of variances between budget / forecast and actual costs
- Draft executive and Board level reports for review by the Deputy CFO and CFO
- Undertake financial modeling using cash flow forecasts, `what if` scenarios and income and cost relationships
- Support the external audit process and liaise with internal and external auditors as required
- Develop project/theme budgets as required, tracking financial performance against the budget and identifying any risks and issues
- Liaise with directorate Business Finance Partners to gain a real understanding of the material issues facing each area of activity.
We are looking for someone who is professionally qualified in either an ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent. Ideally you will have a strong post qualification experience with the ability to articulate large amounts of information in a simple, accessible manner. It would also be beneficial if you had experience with charities, restricted funds, commercial activity, overhead allocations and project accounting.
