Volunteer Gardening Friend (Friends of Fircroft)

Hours: to be mutually agreed but ideally one day per week

Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society. One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of 'social justice' is more relevant than ever. Fircroft is a thriving and ambitious College with a vast and diverse community of learners and a strong ethos.

Fircroft is currently in an exciting phase of improvement and development and we are looking to establish a team of Volunteer Gardening Friends to help maintain and improve our beautiful extensive grounds.

If you would like to learn more about gardening or are already a skilled gardener and want to share your experience, you might like to join the Friends of Fircroft team and become a Volunteer Gardening Friend.

The benefits to an individual from volunteering can be:-

  • Being part of a small friendly and dedicated team.
  • A chance to meet new people
  • Learning new skills or passing on your skills and experience
  • Keeping active in the outdoors

The right person will be someone who ideally has some experience of gardening, is reasonably fit and able to use a variety of garden tools. Being able to work as part of a team and being willing to work outside in all weathers are also important.

Benefits at Fircroft include free parking, free cooked lunch, free hot drinks, a relaxed, friendly and unique environment, 6 acres of beautiful grounds and a passion for education, social justice and community improvement.
