Communications Software Team is tasked with end-to-end development and delivery of Embedded Software for the portfolio of Communications and Networking Products. The work is fast paced and often critical to large strategic product launches such as SkyQ so it is as rewarding as it is challenging. The team strives for excellence in all areas of software development and delivery.

Description

As a Software Project Lead, you will be the owner of a software development project / task. As owner of this task you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of development and test activity required to take an idea from its inception, make it take shape as see it delivered into the hands of our valued customers to the high standards of quality they expect. It is demanding position, but one that is extremely rewarding for those that thrive on rising to the challenge and accomplishment. Leadership, decision making and communication skills will be your key tools of the trade, supported by a solid background in software delivery. A hands-on experience of embedded software development is highly recommended and technical knowledge in the area of networking products will be advantageous. That said you will be steering a team of highly skilled and highly professional engineers so you will be well supported in achieving the project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Be the first and central point of contact for all aspects of your assigned software project.

• Generate & Maintain development and delivery plans for project software releases.

• Ensure that all deliverables and acceptance criteria are defined and that all parties for which the plan is dependent on are engaged and committed to that plan.

• Work closely with stakeholders, technical leads, and assigned project resources to ensure that release requirements are captured, understood, and delivered.

• Compile and present status reports to project stakeholders and management as required.

• Lead and provide direction to project team to ensure that software development and testing activities are coordinated effectively.

• Track and escalate (if necessary) any issues impacting ability to deliver software releases to agreed plan.

• Identify, arbitrate and mitigate operational conflicts or any other risks to software release delivery.

Skills

• Solid Understanding of the Lifecycle of Embedded Software Development.

• Strong Software Project Management Skills working with Cost & Timescale Estimation, Planning & Execution.

• Proven ability to Drive Actions to Closure.

• Proficient in the use of Project Management and Software Process tools.

• Ability to compose and deliver Engaging Reports pitched appropriately to different audiences from Technical through to Management.

• Technical knowledge of Consumer Network Products such as Broadband Routers, Modems, Wireless Access Points, Powerline, NAS Devices, Set Top Box desirable.
