Production Operative – Foundry, Witney, Oxfordshire

We have an opportunity looking for a Production Operative – Foundry (No experience required as full training will be provided) . You will join us in Witney, Oxfordshire on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary of £10 per hour!

Following appropriate training your role as our Production Operative will be to perform a combination of tasks, as directed, in all of the four areas of the foundry to meet Production requirements. The five areas are: Furnace, Moulding, Knockout, Clamping and Weighting, Core Making,

Responsibilities of our Production Operative include:

Iron Furnace-Melting tasks

- Check all equipment is capable for safe operation.

- Ensure furnaces, and ladles are correctly cleaned and kept in good repair

- Manually load furnace with correct alloy grade

- Carry out all specified metal treatment/cleaning requirements

- Monitor melting process and adjust melt rate accordingly

Core making Tasks

- Check correct mixer operation, blade wear, and ensure mixer is capable of safe operation

- Ensure core box is correct for production requirements, and fit for production of good cores

- Attach any date codes, or identification, as required

- Work to production plan

Knockout and de-core tasks

- Check all equipment is operational and safe

- Check extraction is working

- Move moulds from pouring station on to knockout machine

- Remove casting from mould, ensuring that no casting damage occurs

- Move castings to a suitable cooling area

To become our Production Operative you must have the following skills, experience and attributes:

- Experience of work in an industrial working environment

- No foundry experience required, full training will be provided

- Experience of  meeting production targets and working to deadlines is desirable

- Experience of working in a pressurised production environment is desirable

- Educated to GCSE level is desirable

- Basic numeracy skills in order to calculate metal quantities

- The ability to  safely carry out manual handling tasks

- Able to demonstrate reliability

- Enthusiastic approach to work

- Keen eye for details with a high level of accuracy

- Methodical approach to work.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills

- A "can do attitude"

- Good team player

- Ability to work with minimal supervision

- Ability to lift and carry heavy object, equipment and materials

- Able to work, at times, with high levels of noise.
