IT Infrastructure engineer is required to join a highly respected company from their UK head office based on the outskirts of Southampton who specialise within IT hosting. The role of an IT Infrastructure Engineer will be to manage the growing Windows infrastructure of their growing customers systems. You will be expected to: Provide expert consultation on their solution and make recommendations for improvement so that it better meets their business requirements Have a close relationship with the technical representatives in the customers organisation and have credibility with the IT Director Support Account Manager and Customer Experience Manager to deliver a great Customer Experience for your named customers Performs administration of Microsoft/IIS based machines in a large multi-domain environment Performs functions such as re-boot/shutdown a machine, add and remove user accounts, application support, use backup programs and verify disk integrity, maintain system database files (groups, hosts, aliases) Troubleshoots or crisis-manages customer issues Handles incoming calls and trouble tickets from customers Performs problem diagnosis and resolution Conducts proactive analysis and offers optimization recommendations Ensures high customer satisfaction during the installation and support process The ideal candidate for the role will have very strong experience in regard to the support of Windows Infrastructure and if possible have worked in a customer facing role. The key skills my client is looking for are: Able to configure Windows O/S - up to Server 2012R2, experience within 2016 would be beneficial but is not required Knowledge of Microsoft commands/utilities including but not limited to IIS, FTP, telnet, SMTP, POP, IMAP. Familiarity with system administration tools and processes. Ability to troubleshoot complex problems for common TCP/IP protocols such as telnet, FTP, SMTP. Ability to troubleshoot complex application-level problems independently. Ability to work effectively with internal departmental members and peers from other departments. Must demonstrate the capacity and desire for continued, independent learning.
