Marketing Officer and Student Support Officer

  • £18,594 - 21,688 per annum, pro rata, (£13,548 - £15,802 per annum, actual)
  • 8am - 4.15pm, 30 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

This is a combined post working with both the Public Relations Team and the Year 7 Head of Learning. As Marketing Officer, the role will be to market the school across Surrey and promote good public relations in the local community. As Student Support Officer you will work with the Year 7 Head of Learning and form tutors to ensure the welfare and progress of Year 7 students. You will also undertake administrative support for the year group.

You will demonstrate:

  • Strong professional communication skills ranging from writing ad copy to creating scripts for video spots or phone conversations.
  • Good verbal communication skills including ability to speak directly with the public, students and with parents, to communicate effectively within your own team and across school.
  • That you are comfortable speaking in front of groups, able to handle questioning on-the-spot and manage presentation software.
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to undertake research-based analysis -able to draw logical conclusions based on data and other information received.
  • Creativity and the ablility to think of new and exciting ideas to appeal to the target demographic. Ability to think outside the box with an eye for design.
  • Good negotiation skills required for negotiating on budgets, timelines and expectations, and working with designers and vendors.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Coaching and counselling skills and ability to support students.
  • Sound technology skills including the use of analytic programs to measure the success of social media campaigns, the use of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook etc. and the use of social media for marketing purposes. 

Other skills and knowledge that would support the application:

  • Knowledge of education provision in Surrey
  • Understanding of differentiation factors in Secondary and Sixth Form Education
  • Knowledge of admissions criteria and the transition process
  • Understanding of school policies on attendance, behaviour and safeguarding
  • Basic knowledge of the curriculum for Year 7 and academic requirements of students
