NIGHT SHIFT MAINTENANCE FITTER (x2)

South Holmwood (nr Dorking)

The successful applicant will be a member of a multi-functional Engineering team aiming to achieve key targets within their departmental environment, thereby helping to deliver Cost, Quality and Efficiency benefits to the Factory.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Providing plant wide maintenance service, departmental support and mechanical repairs ensuring that all production targets are maintained.
  • Monitor & supply Engineering support of machine set-up & changeovers to ensure that the product conforms to any quality assurance standards and ensuring changeovers are as efficient as possible.
  • Daily liaison with the duty Maintenance Supervisor/Engineering Manager to ensure that all production maintenance requirements are undertaken.
  • As a member of the Engineering team promote the development and implementation of the Factory PPM system.
  • Design, fabrication and machining of parts and structures to service the needs of the business.
  • As a member of the engineering department applying rigorous application of the IMS (Ibstock Manufacturing System) and using TPM Tools & Techniques to generate Continuous Improvement throughout all areas of the Factory.
  • As a member of the Engineering team applying the 5S principles to deliver world-class standards of housekeeping.
  • Night Shift Supervision of the Kilns as part of the Engineering Team.

The Factory is continuously improving and moving forwards and it is essential that the Maintenance Fitter adapts to these changes.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship & Qualification.
  • Flexible & self-motivated working attitude.
  • Numerate & literate.
  • Team working attitude.
  • Pneumatics, hydraulics and welding skills.
  • High degree of Health & Safety awareness.
  • Experience of working in a TPM or similar environment.
  • Experience of a modern manufacturing environment in particular automated brick making machines.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to fault find, repair and provide solutions to problems.

Hours of work will be 38.5 hours per week ‘4-on 4-off' Shift. Weekend and Bank Holiday working are essential in the overall operation of the plant and is arranged on a Rota basis within the Maintenance Department.
