Job Description:
As an experienced credit underwriter you will play a key role in working application referrals from customers who apply for credit products with our client. You will be required to assess applications and determine the customers' ability and intent to repay based on the information available. You will be required to adhere to all regulatory, legislative and lending policy guidelines whilst providing an exceptional service to the customer. As a senior underwriter you will act as a point of contact for queries from junior underwriters and colleagues from other areas.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Assessing and making decisions on applications for credit products
* Ensuring all decisions are made in accordance with regulatory and
lending policies
* Ensure all approved applications are accepted in accordance with the
clients risk appetite
* Approve lending within an agreed mandate.
* Ensuring all decisions are completed within an agreed SLA
* Assess credit appeals from customers who have had applications for
credit declined.
* Provide excellent service to both internal and external customers
* Build and develop relationships across the business at all levels
Knowledge and Experience
* At least 1 years underwriting experience gained in an unsecured or
secured lending environment
* Good understanding of TCF, Data Protection Act and Responsible
Lending principles
* Ability to interpret credit bureaux information.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Great attention to detail
* Ability to manage own workload
* Enthusiastic and driven
* Good working knowledge of credit decisioning systems
* Call Handling experience
