We have a new exciting opportunity at Saga Group for a Finance Manager (Control AICL & CHMC) to join our team in Folkestone. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary of £50,000 per annum plus car allowance.

About the Finance Manager role:
Saga plc requires a Finance Manager to join the finance department of Acromas Insurance Company Limited (AICL), the Group’s Gibraltar based underwriting entity and CHMC Limited, a credit hire and accident management company (the “Team”). The Team is also responsible for PEC Services Limited, the Group’s motor vehicle repair company.
Managing the Financial Control function of AICL and CHMC, the role will involve the delivery of all relevant statutory and internal reporting requirements, including Financial Statements, Tax and Solvency returns, management accounts as well as acting as the lead point of contact for the External Audit. You will need to quickly build an expertise in the insurance industry including Insurance GAAP and both internal and external best practice.
Key responsibilities as our Finance Manager:
- Lead the delivery of AICL’s monthly internal financial reports in order to track the company’s position at each balance sheet date. Manage balance sheet control and reconciliations, in line with Saga requirements. Working closely with the AICL and CHMC FP&A Finance Managers to ensure all aspects of internal reporting are quickly and efficiently delivered centrally within required timeframes.
- Lead the preparation of AICL’s Solvency II deliverables, working closely with the Actuarial Department to ensure all data points are collected accurately and within the required timeframes. Build and then demonstrate a detailed understanding of the regulations to ensure analytical procedures are robust and risks/errors are quickly identified.
- Deliver Financial Statements for all relevant legal entities, in line within internal and external requirements.
- Deliver Corporation, VAT and Insurance Premium Tax returns, ensuring all processes and reporting is in line with current tax best practice and guidance.
- Be the technical lead for Financial Accounting. Roll out any change requirements under new or existing IFRS Accounting Standards, including the drafting of accounting papers for internal and external use and the training of staff.
- Ensure the business and our customers are supported at all times, including the speedy resolution of payment and finance related IT issues. Manage the work required to quickly and efficiently clear all outstanding claims agent queries.
- Implement, monitor and deliver all financial control requirements.
- Working closely with the AICL Actuarial department to ensure data used across the business is accurate and consistent.
- Responsible for the mentoring and development of 3 staff, provide strong leadership and motivation to both direct reports and other members of the team. Lead by example at all times, championing the “Saga Truths”.
- Manage the financial due diligence of AICL’s outsourced supply chain, review contracts and underlying commercial risks prior to sign off.
Experience and skills required of our Finance Manager:
- Experience of leading the development of balance sheet controls and frameworks.
- The ability to quickly spot control risks within complex systems and companies, and design and implement processes to prevent or mitigate them.
- Experience of managing and motivating a team.
- Strong financial accounting knowledge.
- Strong IT skills including advance knowledge of Excel. TM1 knowledge would be advantageous.
- Experience of working within a regulated entity would be advantageous.
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified, minimum of 3 years post qualification experience within a large organisation.
- Ability to delegate effectively, creating guardrails through detailed review and analysis.
