Senior Solutions Design Engineer - Automation / Manufacturing / Material Handling
Circa GBP70-75K plus car, pension, training & development

Vacancy description
Reporting to the Solutions Manager the primary purpose of the role is to analyse, model and design automated materials handling solutions for the Logistics industry and to create technical proposal documents to support sales bids. Working closely with the sales team, the key accountabilities of this role are to analyse customer requirements, model data flows to support solution design and design automated warehouse solutions typically up to GBP6m in value and on a worldwide basis. The role works closely across several business functions to include business development, estimation and engineering and of course with our customers and the automation suppliers________________________________________
We start every project with a clean sheet. No assumptions or off-the-shelf plans. Every client's project is unique so the design solution must be unique too. In close collaboration with the client's team we use a series of detailed analyses to reach the most detailed understanding of the situation, what the client expects to achieve and the options available. Often we reach conclusions that throw a fresh light on the task which can lead to some innovative and unexpected directions. When we have whittled the choices down to the most promising we provide a detailed ROI evaluation so the client understands the impact proposed investment alternatives will make to the bottom line. The choice of technologies can be bewildering to all but the most knowledgeable. High bay or low bay pallet storage, AGVs, AS/RS or man-up trucks, fork or reach trucks, sortation systems, shelving and racking, carousels, elevators, palletisers, RF and bar code scanners, software systems - the list goes on. As an experienced independent integrator we have the expertise and know-how to select the most suitable equipment and systems, ensuring they are compatible, cost-effective and from suppliers we can depend on to back their products for years to come.
What we are looking for?
We seek an individual who is either an experienced automation engineer who has then progressed to solutions design within the logistics automation industry or alternatively performing a warehouse solutions design position within the 3PL sector where involvement in automation is a key component of the role. Candidates should have a strong understanding of material flow and be naturally analytical, particularly working with data.
We also place high value on customer facing competencies, an ability to convey confidence and credibility to existing and prospective clients. This role suits a naturally collaborative individual, someone who thrives in a team environment with the ability to operate across a wide range of disciplines, levels and functions
