Deck, Engine and Catering Apprenticships

DFDS, the World's Leading Ferry Operator, are now recruiting Apprentices for the 2017-year intake.  We are very pleased to be able to offer 6 Deck Apprenticeships, 3 Engine Apprenticeships, and 3 Maritime Caterer Apprenticeships.

These Apprenticeships will last between 18 and 24 months, and will comprise of a combination of on the job on-board training, and classroom-based training in North Kent College, Gravesend.

The Deck Scheme focuses on trainees becoming a fully qualified Able Bodied Seafarer.

The Engine Scheme focuses on Workshop skills with an ultimate goal of Fitter.

The Maritime Caterer Scheme results in becoming qualified in professional cookery.

Through these Schemes, we aim to produce a sustainable and skilled workforce for the future, creating opportunities for young people in Dover and the surrounding areas.  In order to qualify for one of these schemes, candidates must; Live in Dover or surrounding areas, be aged between 17.5 - 24 years,  have a minimum of Grade C in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent, be capable of passing a Medical Fitness Test, be willing to live on-board as well as live away from home during the College phases.
