Weekend News Editor - Based in Cheltenham

Gloucestershire Live, a successful news, sport and "what's on" website, is looking for a weekend news editor to join the team. We are the biggest news website in the county which also provides content for our daily newspapers the Gloucester Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo.

Ensuring we have great stories seven days a week is a major priority for us, and as such we are looking for a talented news editor to help lead the team.

Strong digital and social media skills are a must for this role as you will be responsible for driving our audience at the weekends. This position involves working Thursday to Monday but you will also get one in four weekends off.

You will either be already working as a news editor or be an experienced qualified senior reporter wanting to make a step up on to the news desk.

You will organise and manage the delivery of accurate, legally-sound content packages in support of digital audience targets and brand values

You must constantly be aware of the news agenda and collaborate to ensure that varied sections of the site are covered with breaking and engaging video news stories. Using your analytical skills to prioritise, you will highlight the importance of video across the whole newsroom, and lead our drive to maximise content written for video.

You'll have an NCTJ-accredited journalism qualification and will use it to generate content which engages local audiences and meets the standards set by the business in terms of quality, consistency, accuracy and legal compliance.
