A vacancy has become available for a professional and self-motivated individual to join the Middleware team within the Infrastructure Development department. You will be responsible for the Installation, administration and testing of IBM WebSphere Application Server within Nationwide Enterprise Middleware (NEM) platform ensuring project solutions match agreed designs and meet business needs.
Who we're looking for
As a minimum requirement you'll:
Strong functional and organisational knowledge in retail financial services Excellent analytical and technical implementation skills - experience in technical infrastructure delivery preferred Play a senior technical specialist role in the administration, installation and maintenance of NEM WAS solutions -focussed on BPM, BAM, and ODM landscapes ensuring that all changes are performed professionally and with minimal operational impact. This will be achieved by developing and enforcing standards for management capabilities within the distributed environment Significant working knowledge with the following skills is required for the role:o WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (WAS ND) v7/8/8.5.x o IBM HTTP Server (HIS) v7.X and latero Installation, patching, configuring, problem determinationo Keystore management - CSR, importing, receiving etco ISA, AST, working with IBM on PMRs etco JDK 1.5 and J2EE 1.4.x or aboveo Scripting with Jython and ksho DB2 V9.5/V10o Experience of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Experience of best practice in infrastructure deployment Excellent communication skills and ability to relate to and influence employees at all levels Ability to communicate technical issues and constraints to non-technical colleagues. Awareness of Nationwide's business objectives and structure Experience of building and delivering large-scale technical solutions Ability and desire to quickly comprehend the functions, capabilities and benefits of new technologies Have the rigor, ability and discipline to self-learn that is required for continual professional development and stay abreast of changes in the industry. Knowledge of design tools and methodologies Ability to work closely with technical stakeholders to support the delivery of infrastructure solutions
What you'll be doing
Main Responsibilities:
Member of build & delivery team to produce infrastructure solutions that provide optimal Business and Customer outcomes, whilst maintaining the required commercial and strategic focus Ensuring solution implementations meet build and test standards and define architectural patterns Identifying and escalating implementation inter-dependencies and relevant risks and exceptions across allocated projects Using technical knowledge and expertise to input into simple, standards based infrastructure designs on projects Applying relevant security and technical policies, standards, best practice and design requirements to solutions Ensuring knowledge management, skills transfer and succession planning to relevant support teams Ensuring best practice in detailed infrastructure build is applied on programmes and projects Contributing to the continual improvement of infrastructure build across the change lifecycle within the Nationwide Change Framework Oversight of contract build resources and services from delivery partners to ensure effective delivery of solutions Approve documentation to help support the project implementation once it is transferred to BAU
