Due to an expansion of the team we have a number of exciting Mortgage Underwriter opportunities to join our Lending Shared Services team. You will make strong lending decisions within the boundaries set out in the Group's risk policies relating to new mortgage lending and existing customer variations by ensuring decisions are aligned with risk appetite and delivery of fair customer outcomes.
Your main responsibilities will include:
* To be able to deliver strong sustainable financial security by providing quality lending decisions, analysing mortgage applications to offer within a risk framework.
* To help deliver an excellent customer experience by contributing to our mortgage application to offer turnaround times and by increasing overall customer satisfaction.
* To become locally famous by keeping our customers regularly informed and communicating lending decisions in a timely and professional manner.
* To identify and drive forward service improvements within the department to make the way we do business easier and simple.
* To work closely within a team and to help foster working relationships to share best practice and to contribute to a great people experience.
* To put customers at our heart and at the forefront of all the decisions we make whilst protecting the Societies assets and reputation.
Skills, experience and qualifications required:
* Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Possess an excellent aptitude for making appropriate lending decisions in a fair and consistent manner.
* A willingness to learn and an ability to retain knowledge around the Groups lending criteria and mortgage processing systems.
* Are able to provide advice and guidance to other departments, retail network and customers.
* Demonstrate a keen attention to detail.
* Have an analytic nature with a natural ability to identify where information should not be taken at face value.
* Able to multi task and effectively manage your own pipeline of work.
* Able to support ad-hoc project work and activities on lending policy and underwriting issues.
* Industry knowledge of mortgage products or experience of making lending decisions would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.
