An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Underwriting Team Manager to join our ever growing and exciting department within Lending Shared Services. Working as a Team Manager, you will ensure service excellence is achieved through leading and motivating a team of people within an underwriting environment.

Your main responsibilities will be:
Your duties will involve coaching, analysing and monitoring your team's performance and ensuring their training needs are met enabling the individuals and the departments' goals to be achieved. You will take responsibility for complaint handling, dealing with each issue effectively, timely and within regulatory requirements and ensure that the best outcome is reached for the customer and the Society.

You will also be a role model for best practice and work closely with other Team Managers to ensure the effective delivery of all objectives set across the department.

Most importantly though, you will promote an environment of service and quality, whilst developing a culture of success and effective customer service management by embedding TCF principles which will ensure that all your customers receive the best possible service experience they could wish for.

Other responsibilities include:
* Promoting a culture to become locally famous by keeping our customers regularly informed and communicating lending decisions in a timely and professional manner. This includes updating colleagues with complex information in huddles, team meetings and cascading training across the department as appropriate.
* Work closely within a team and to help foster working relationships to share best practice, create a culture of trust contributing to a great people experience.
* To identify and drive forward service improvements within the department to make the way we do business easier and simple and to help support the delivery of these initiatives.
* Ability to deliver strong sustainable financial security by providing quality lending decisions, analysing mortgage applications to offer within a risk framework.
* Putting customers at our heart and at the forefront of all the decisions we make whilst protecting the Societies assets and reputation.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:
* Previous experience of leading a team within a mortgage environment.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
* The ability to analyse performance and take responsibility for team results.
* Are able to coach and support colleagues through their own development and provide quality feedback.
* Have a sound commercial awareness of the current economic climate.
* Possess a general understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements such as MCOB and the TCF Principles.
* Able to support ad-hoc project work and activities on lending policy and underwriting issues.
* Have mortgage product knowledge and/or experience of underwriting and making decisions.

Working Hours Available: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between hours of 08:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays 09:00 to 12:00 based on business requirements
