We are on the lookout for a Category Development Manager - Grocery to join our Category Development Team in Chertsey. Responsible for the growth of this category, this role is integral to the success of Foodbuy - a leading force in food and beverage procurement. As the Category Development Manager - Grocery and a fellow foodie, you will be passionate about your category and motivated to ensure that we deliver value to all Foodbuy clients as well as ensuring we deliver growth to our supplier partners. You will develop and implement a category strategy encompassing a plan to drive growth in this area. Products include everything from oil to tinned goods, breakfast cereals to cooking sauces with large well-known supplier partner and smaller specialist grocery suppliers. You will build and maintain effective supplier and client relationships. Accountable for circa. GBP40M of category spend, you will lead the Category Buyer through key steps in the Foodbuy Procurement Framework for grocery focusing on start-up, strategy and continuous improvement. As the expert in your category you will drive relationships with members and clients maximising the value of these relationships for the business.

You will be given the opportunity to make grocery a winning category, in order to do this you will need to be a skilled purchasing professional with a passion for food with previous experience of managing a food category. You will have demonstrable leadership qualities with the ability to inspire, influence, engage at all levels. As a self-starter with strong negotiation and analytical skills you will be able to demonstrate proven experience of supplier and client management. You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and ideally you will hold a relevant CIPS qualification.
