The role:

Cover Supervisors/Assistants are responsible for overseeing a class in the absence of the usual Teacher. Work will be set but you are responsible for distributing the tasks and ensuring they are carried out to the best of the pupil's capabilities.You must maintain discipline in the classroom and ensure the set work is adhered to.Work should be collated at the end of the lesson and classroom should be left as you found it.Notes should be produced for the returning Teacher. Maintaining a good level of interaction with pupils and ensuring behaviour is good is necessary. Classrooms should be left tidy for the subsequent member of staff. Child Protection policies must be adhered to at all times.

The candidate:

Some experience of supervising children over the age of 11 is desirable although free training can be arranged for candidates who hold some experience of working with children of any age. Patient and calm demeanor. Professional appearance and ability to display good classroom management. 22 years of age or older. Degree level qualifications are not necessary but will influence pay rates significantly. Holders of a valid DBS check that is registered with the DBS online update service are eligible for fast-track registrations - Apollo can perform a new check for you if necessary at a cost of GBP52. Under certain criteria this may be able to be deducted from your first pay.
