The School - North London, Enfield
Our school is a Local Authority Maintained Special School in Enfield for boys and girls aged 4 to 19 years. They provide quality education for children with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and Autism (ASD). The school works effectively with all members of its community to provide a safe and nurturing environment, de-escalating challenging behaviour and promoting positive relationships. The school focusses on life long learning, providing opportunities for pupils to develop independence and work towards progression in literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills.
Person Specification - SEN Teacher North London, Enfield
The successful SEN Teacher will be proactive and engaging; provide effective teaching to children with Autism and Complex needs; have previous teaching experience (not necessarily in a SEN setting); a clear and adaptable approach to teaching; a calm and consistent manner; be approachable to all pupils and act as a positive behavioural role model; and will hold an appropriate education degree with UK qualified teacher status (QTS). Pupils use communication strategies, such as PECs and Makaton, on a regular basis, previous experience of these techniques would be preferable.
Successful Applicants will be subject to references and an up to date DBS with update service or be willing to apply for a Tripod Education DBS.
About the Role - ASD / Complex Needs Teacher
As a SEN Teacher at this SEN school you will be leading an ASD class of young pupils within Key Stage 3 with approximately 10 pupils, and up to 4 other staff. Pupils are working at Year 2 National Curriculum levels. This is a full time, long term role with competitive rates of pay, starting from GBP140, reflecting experience and workload. There is an opportunity for this role to become a permanent contract after the inital academic year.
