Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) is a national charity, based in Leatherhead, Surrey. Established in 1995, CRY is the only charity that focuses exclusively on the issue of young sudden cardiac death, raising awareness, offering free or subsidised cardiac screening to all 14 to 35 year olds and providing support to families affected by young sudden cardiac death.

We are looking to recruit a Communications Assistant to join CRY's Communications Team, working 35 hours per week.

The role will:

Assist with the upkeep of CRY main communications channels: website, social media and publications.

Undertake administrative tasks for reports and campaigns.

Assist with other ad hoc projects as required.

The successful applicant will be responsible for day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of CRY's Twitter and Facebook accounts; producing monthly e-newsletters and maintaining subscriber lists; creating instructional signs/forms; updating/maintain website pages; and other general office-based support.

The position requires drive and enthusiasm, as well as an ability to work across a number of different projects.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent); a design/publication qualification and related IT qualifications. Desirable attributes would be English, communications or marketing qualifications.

Candidates should have experience using WordPress as a CMS; good organisational skills; excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office; good communication skills; excellent attention to detail and be flexible and reliable.

Previous experience in a similar role within the charity sector is desirable but not essential.

Salary GBP18,000 to GBP19,000 (depending on experience) per annum, for a 35-hour working week. CRY allows some degree of flexibility regarding start / finish times.
