English Language Graduate - Cover Supervisor

The role of a Cover Supervisor is for the full academic year in the same school taking cover periods for the English department when necessary maybe due to the qualified teachers being on training or on their planning, preparation and assessment time (PPA). You will be able to support with planning and assessing but this will not be left to you to do completely. You will be given an opportunity to support the teachers in this area of teaching so that you can gain excellent experience of how the role of an English teacher actually works.

The learners at this school are generally well-behaved but you will need to have a strong classroom presence, showing you have confidence and ability to take cover for lessons with a range of learners. You should have excellent subject knowledge within the English language subject and be happy to share your knowledge within both the department and within the classroom.
