Support Engineer - Media Asset Management

Our client is looking for graduates who would like to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment providing direct assistance their customers to resolve technical issues as a Technical Support Engineer.

You will be working primarily with their Media Asset Management (MAM) solution running on Linux servers though you will also use SQL and JavaScript amongst other technologies. You will be part of a small team, around 10 people, providing a 24/7 first and second line support service. Primarily this is would be for their European & Asian customer base and at times also for their customers across North America.

General Role:

  • Provide remote support to our clients via the in house ticketing system.
  • Investigate, analyse, debug and resolve Mediator system issues.
  • Support and respond to questions from customers about the features and capabilities of the Mediator system.
  • Assisting with testing the system to ensure the agreed specification is met.
  • Document changes and procedures to ensure future supportability.
  • Plan and handle relevant upgrades and bug fixes to customer systems.
  • Provide 24/7 support once you have gained the required level of knowledge to work on the out of hours (OOH) team.


Required Skills:

  • IT and networking skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of Linux system administration and use of command line.
  • Working knowledge of scripting in different programming languages e.g. SQL, Bash, JavaScript, Python, XML/XSL, Spring.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail.
  • To be a self-motivated team member.


Desirable Skills:

  • Digital video and audio compression standards and file types.
  • Relational databases e.g. Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB.
  • Server hardware.
  • Virtualisation.
  • Experience using RabbitMQ, Elastisearch, etc.
  • Experience with a support ticket system.
  • Media management and system workflows.
  • Broadcasting and telecommunications.
