Transport Investigations Limited are looking to recruit skilled communicators with excellent customer service skills ,interviewing and report-writing skills to work as Revenue Protection Officers (RPOs) within the railway industry. A background in the Police, Security, or other Revenue Protection jobs is an advantage as well as good customer service however the job is open to all who can demonstrate the correct skillset.

About the Role: This challenging and varied role supports the rail industry in reducing the revenue lost through ticketless travel, or travel with inappropriate tickets. RPOs are responsible for helping to enforce laws and byelaws relating to passenger travel and behaviour.

Duties include:
Checking railway passengers' tickets at stations and on trains.
Communicating clearly and effectively with the passenger at all times.
Taking appropriate follow-up action with those found with no tickets, or in possession of invalid tickets
On occasion reporting people for anti-social behaviour offences
Writing clear and concise reports and statements for further action or investigation as required.
Where necessary, attending court to give evidence in support of the prosecutions process.
Full training is provided.

About You: We are looking for candidates who have:
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Confidence in dealing with people of all backgrounds and comfortable questioning people about suspected offences, sometimes in tense situations.
Ability to quickly write concise and accurate reports, which could later be relied upon to support a prosecution.
A strong appreciation of the rule of law and an understanding of passenger behaviour
Knowledge of the railways, ticketing, railway byelaws or PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act) desirable, though not essential
Ability to communicate in the Welsh language helpful, though not essential
A strong customer service background

Patterns of Work:
Shift patterns will range from 2 x 4 hour shifts to 5 x 8 hour shifts per week.

Work will take place all over South Wales and the Marches. Rail travel to and from work is paid for by the company.
