You will be working for a firm of Chartered Accountants which prides itself on their exceptional customer service, friendly professional approach and the ability to build long term relationships with their clients.

The job

The Payroll Assistant is an important role where you will accurately enter payroll details from start to finish whilst reconciling payroll to client data. In addition to this you will prepare payroll journals, analyse weekly and monthly PAYE figures and calculate SSP / SMP / SAP. You will also produce and distribute pension scheme returns and effectively deal with queries from both clients and HMRC.

Your experience

You will have payroll bureau or practice experience, excellent numeracy and communication skills, knowledge of PAYE, working knowledge of computerised payroll software and ideally be CIPP qualified or working towards it. In addition to this you will be a natural organiser with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, flexible and be able to show evidence of being a proactive, hands-on team player who is confident in working to changing priorities in a busy department.
