About Wholesale Lending
The Wholesale Lending Transaction Cycle supports Corporate clients across the lending business and through the end to end process from Credit Analysis/underwriting through post sanction fulfilment, drawdown, collateral perfection, maintenance and release, financial monitoring and control, and general servicing throughout the life of the loan. The team has core UK and India site presence.
Overall Purpose Of Role
The role holder will lead the Debt Servicing, Credit Analysis, Monitoring and Control (M&C) and Data Quality Management Functions, within Wholesale Lending Operations, managing a large team (200+) of BA3/BA4/AVP and VP's across 7 different locations. This will span BI and BUK SME clients across multiple locations.
The role holder will ensure that all elements of Servicing, Credit Analysis, M&C, and Lending data quality across the portfolio are managed and executed in accordance with policy, and that all operational flows are managed in line with procedures.
The role holder will ensure appropriate risk controls and operating procedures are in place, so that all required internal, external, regulatory and governance standards are maintained. They will also ensure robust Monitoring & Control systems and procedures are embedded in in the function, to ensure the team is able to identify, highlight and report appropriate early warning signs, ensuring all covenants, conditions and internal triggers are adhered to at all times.
The role holder will ensure that all elements through the life of lending products across the portfolio, are managed and executed in accordance with policy. This includes management of all operational flows from drawdown through to repayment or closure, ensuring that Risk Control, Product and Credit Risk procedures are adhered to and enhanced wherever possible.
The role holder will be accountable for all demand volumes and resource management to achieve BAU excellence and adherence to SLA's.
They will be required to work collaboratively with the Risk Sanction Unit Leadership to set the strategy and target operating model for the functions.
The role holder will work closely with the Wholesale Lending Senior Leadership Team to set the strategy and drive the agenda to improve service delivery and regulatory/ risk control, to ensure a seamless end to end client experience is delivered.
The role holder will drive innovation, continuous improvement and lean strategies and approach, across multi-site operations globally to help create synergies. They will also be required to develop efficiencies, drive the automation agenda and deliver financial targets (cost and FTE) whilst maintaining a robust risk and control environment.
The role holder will also be the accountable Service Manager responsible for key contractual obligations for the delivery of offshore activities and implementation of revised plans in line with the overall location strategy.
Key Accountabilities
The role holder will lead the below functions to provide the business with these services, in accordance with Operational Procedures and Barclays Policies:
Credit Analysis - credit applications, including Credit Analysis and all other Credit Application content for new and incremental lending, annual and interim reviews
Financial Monitoring and Control, in line with credit sanction
Data Quality Management solutions, as related to lending products
The role holder will be responsible for data quality integrity and the coordination of any related remediation exercises. The successful candidate should have experience of identifying and calculating appropriate redress solutions.
The role holder will be accountable for Business Continuity Planning to build real time resilience as required and appropriate, to prevent service disruption and business failure.
The role holder will manage crisis escalations on behalf of relevant system users and need to invoke situation workarounds.
The role holder will be responsible for leading a team across onshore and offshore sites and leading the Colleague Engagement and Citizenship agenda across those teams. The successful candidate should demonstrate an ability to recruit, develop & align the talent needed to meet the business objectives.
The role holder will be accountable for establishing and maintaining robust compliance over operational IT system level discretions and ensuring the effective use of controls in line with current standards and sampling of use of these levels of authority, ensuring at all times an effective understanding of team adherence to data security standards and immediate resolution of identified issues.
The role holder will manage the workflow of client facilities into Lending Operations and maintain effective MI in relation to facilities process and KPIs including cycle times, accuracy and client satisfaction measured through NPS.
The role holder will be responsible for the Teams adherence to procedures and risk standards

In particular, establishing a close partnership with the Risk, Origination and Product functions.
The role holder will need to exhibit superior influencing and negotiating skills in his or her interactions, to optimise outcomes for the function and the Bank.
They will need to provide strategic leadership to the function, setting and leading the agenda on the structure and direction. They will be required to use and implement MI suites to enable optimal management of the business, resources and workload, establishing relevant KPIs to drive performance across the function.
The role holder will be responsible for attracting, retaining and developing talent within the team, providing guidance, performance management and career development to direct reports whilst being seen as a role model for the function. Ensure a high quality, role specific training programme is established and embedded across the team to help build a high performing and motivated team. Ensure best practice, skills and knowledge are shared across the team and the wider organisation, manage reward & recognition programmes, take responsibility for succession planning, and where appropriate handle disciplinary and grievance procedures.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate wil l have expert knowledge of the lending product suite and end to end lending process. They will have strong experience and understanding of both offshoring & right shoring and an ability to lead and inspire dispersed and virtual teams in addition to a good knowledge of business continuity and contingency planning. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of Operational Risk and internal policies and procedures together with a strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements as they impact the team coupled with a good understanding of relevant legislation and corporate controls and checks.
