The Hosted Services Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for maintaining the data centre environment(s) and ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational, and highly available through continuous proactive monitoring, customer support, and scheduled maintenance preparation. To work alongside the Hosted Services Manager in formulation and roll-out of infrastructural requirements across the group.

Summary & Purpose of Role: 

+ Provide support, specifically in VMWare, Server, Virtualization and Data Centre Hosting
+ Monitor the health and configuration of Servers, Infrastructure and associated systems
+ Respond to customer impacting events/support tickets within SLA’s
+ Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure within the hosted environments including all networking, firewall and load balancer configuration
+ Assist with the planning and deployment of security measures within the hosted environments
+ Assist in the planning of server environments and consolidation of data centres
+ Provide operational handover and documentation for technologies and services provisioned out of the hosted environments
+ Ensures all hosted environments are backed up and recoverable in timescales to meet contracted RTO and RPOs
+ Perform routine maintenance activities on customer server environments

Required Skills:

+ Knowledge of x86/x64-based hardware components including the ability to build a fully functioning system.
+ Good knowledge and understanding of both IIS and Apache web technologies.
+ Good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Administration.
+ Knowledge of network protocols, principles and concepts including the ability to troubleshoot local and remote connectivity issues and ensure QoS.
+ Knowledge of Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
+ Clear understanding of storage principles including troubleshooting RAID technology, SAN and operating system disk management.
+ Ability to perform basic recovery procedures utilizing operating system boot loaders and data recovery tools.
+ Knowledge of server operating systems to include Microsoft Windows, Redhat Linux and Ubuntu Linux. 
+ Powershell & command line knowledge for both Microsoft and Linux preferred.
+ Knowledge of email systems and protocols such as SMTP, POP3 and IMAP.
+ Understanding of file systems and the ability to perform basic data recovery.
+ Ability to perform configuration and troubleshooting of SSH and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services. 
+ Fluency with Microsoft SPLA licensing, and business modelling.
+ Ability to follow defined operational standards (Change Management and ISO), understand data centre critical infrastructure, and understand server operating systems.
+ Strong communication and grammatical skills as well as professional phone etiquette.
+ Experience in writing clear and concise technical documentation.
+ Self-driven with the ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups.
+ Must exhibit a passionate customer service attitude.

Qualifications & Requirements:

+ Minimum 3 years of relevant experience and the ability to show familiarity with building, repairing or upgrading hardware components/ managing virtualised environments (such as VMWare and Hyper-V based) required.
+ Minimum 3 years experience of provisioning and managing hosted services for external customers under SaaS models.
+ Any IT qualifications such as MCP, MCSA, MCSE or CCNA would be desirable.
+ Demonstrated ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, high pressure environment required.
+ Proficient with productivity software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office and Open Office as well as email client software including the creation of rules and folder organization. 
+ 2+ years experience in a customer service oriented position preferred.
+ Industry recognized certifications including VMWare, CompTIA, Microsoft, Redhat preferred.
+ Demonstrated ability to consistently provide passionate support.
