BBC Scotland's News and Current Affairs department delivers high quality journalism on Radio, TV, Online and Social to audiences across Scotland and beyond. We strive to lead the editorial agenda in Scotland, with breaking news stories at the heart of our journalism.

We are looking for a Broadcast Journalist for our Shetland office.

This is an exciting opportunity to serve a diverse island community, and reflect its life to our wider audiences across Radio, TV and digital services. You will have a deep understanding of the stories that people from Shetland really care about.

Role Responsibility
Reporting to the Senior Producer in Shetland, you will initiate and produce a broad range of news and programme content, with a high level of original journalism, as part of an established team.

You will write material for our full range of output, undertake interviewing and reporting duties for Radio, Television, Online and Social, and originate and develop programme ideas.

You need to demonstrate that you're a determined and resourceful team worker as well as having a willingness to learn new skills in an environment that's changing all the time. Training will be given when necessary.

The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
First class news judgement. Good broadcasting and on-air skills. Good writing skills. Ability to originate and develop stories and programme ideas. Ability to work co-operatively and flexibly under pressure, as part of a small team. Willingness to learn new skills. Demonstrate a good understanding of this diverse island community.
