Retail Manager

Tewkesbury Abbey is first and foremost a parish church responsible to and for a growing parish in a vibrant town and renowned for its music and liturgy.  It also seeks to combine this role with that of a Greater Church, attracting over 200,000 visitors each year, an important concert venue and conference centre with a building and heritage site of national significance.

The Retail Manager will be employed by Tewkesbury Abbey Limited which exists to provide an income which is gifted to Tewkesbury Abbey to support the parish church in its Christian mission and historic role within the town and wider community. Due to the retirement of the current Shop Manager, after 12 years, the Abbey is now looking to extend the role to manage the Shop which is located within the Abbey and to support the management of the Tea Room which has premises in the Visitor Centre located in the churchyard. This is a new role in development and it is hoped that the successful candidate will have the enthusiasm and expertise to enlarge the role to take on further responsibilities. This may involve researching new ventures to increase the profit of Tewkesbury Abbey Limited.

Whoever is appointed will play a significant role in making people feel at home and welcome in the Abbey, and demonstrate a willingness to work alongside their fellow workers in promoting the mission and ministry of The Abbey.  It is expected that the person appointed will have sympathy with the ethos of the Church of England.
