A bit about us

We may have started small, but we’ve always had very big ideas. We launched in 2001 and we just haven’t stopped; a years’ worth of achievements always seems more like three at AO.

More about the Hairdresser role

Yes we are a logistics company and Crewe is our head office and our main UK distribution centre, and yes we do have two wonderful purpose built salons just for employees.

Why you ask? Simply because we like to be different, we do things the “AO Way”  by offering the use of our salons for treatments, including hairdressing appointments, as a perk to employees.

We are looking to grow our Hairdressing team. This is a full time role which would mean you get to work from our purpose built salons inside our Alpha and Omega buildings. You will have regular contact with employees of all levels throughout our business as you help them to achieve their perfect hair styles.

Hairdresser Working Hours: Our on-site salons are open for employees to use from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, so no weekend work is required.

Here's what you can expect to be doing

As our Hairdresser you will support a vital element of our employee engagement programme which allows our employees to have their hair cut and styled while they are at work. You will demonstrate your “flair for Hair” whilst remaining professional at all times and living our values whilst delivering great customer service. 

You will utilise your skills in the following areas;

- Working in a functional salon as the primary hairdresser

- Washing, cutting, blow-drying and styling both male and female hair

- Completing stock orders

- Completing all hair appointments on time and to schedule

- Time management and diary bookings

- Providing great customer service with every client

A few things about you

You will be approachable and have a caring and friendly personality. You will also have the ability to manage your workload independently whilst displaying excellent organisational skills. You will have the ability to treat all of your clients with the same attitude and professionalism.

Experience

- Has at least 12 months experience of working in a professional salon without the need to be supervised

- Understands the importance of client confidentiality

- Has cut and styled both male and female hair

Skills

- You must be qualified in NVQ Level 3 in Hair including barbering

- Able to build and maintain relationships with colleagues

- Hair washing, cutting, and styling without supervision

- Barbering

- Effective communication skills

- Excellent time management skills
