General Port Operative – Army Sponsored Reservist
Location - Marchwood, Hampshire
Full-time
You must hold a British passport, be eligible to join the Army Reserves, be willing to become and remain a Sponsored Reservist (SR) and uphold the commitments as an SR. All applicants must be of good health and will have to undergo a comprehensive medical and fitness/strength tests.
A General Terminal Operative carries out cargo operations, including the mooring of vessels, loading/unloading and securing of cargo, both civilian and military. Full training will be provided for use of specialised heavy plant and machinery. Additionally this post will be required to carry out site support and maintenance tasks as required.
Day to day, you will enjoy the benefits of working for a leading port operating organisation as a General Terminal Operative/Sponsored Reserve. Working at the former UK MoD's Sea Mounting Centre and when required at overseas ports. On top of this, over the course of 12 months, you will be given the opportunity to undergo up to 38 days training with the Army Reserves. Training includes basic fitness, leadership skills and adventure training. You will get to put this training to the test on rewarding and challenging exercises and on deployments in the UK or abroad.
